I have a deep desire to help artists market themselves. This passion is rooted in my childhood, and IN my professional background, both as a graphic designer and business person.
As you well know, the one-of-a-kind works that you create are not mass-produced consumer items. Yet, they still need to be sold.
Any maker whose goal is to be more than a hobbyist has to develop the characteristics of an entrepreneur.
That’s where my business — Heather Bunker Branding —comes in.
The first step WE'LL TAKE TOGETHER is THE interview, which Is part of a project
I call "the Makers List."
For me, "The Makers List" involves, not only the opportunity to do potential client outreach, but a real labor of love. I have a keen interest in hearing the stories of artisans like you — people who create handmade items that bring joy to this world.
Doing the free interview, and introducing you to my network through these blog posts, gives me the opportunity to meet interesting artists and, in turn, expand my network. Besides, who doesn't love free PR?
And who’s kidding whom? I work from home and have two toddlers and an infant.
interesting conversations PROVIDE a break from the REGULAR routine...
And that’s always welcome!
We’ll talk and get a feel for one another. I'll explore what you consider to be most important about your work, and the main points of your business, and I'll offer free suggestions and ideas. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, you can click here to schedule a time or — if you’re really eager to get started — you can call me at (919) 348-0025.
If we decide to work together further, I will help you—the artisan—grow your business.
I will help you to become a successful entrepreneur as well as a successful artist (the two don’t always mesh). We’ll work in tandem to find your market niche and develop how your business looks and feels, but most importantly help you clarify your message and speak directly to your target market.
I really would love to help you develop your Comprehensive Brand Strategy, your Corporate Branding, and your Visual Identity, along with your very own Customized, Responsive Web Design and Social Media Optimization - all that “under the hood” stuff that is so important to maintain a smooth-running business in today’s marketplace.
What we put together can then become part of your marketing efforts across all platforms: E-commerce, direct sales, brochures, trade show displays, and any other avenues through which you sell your work.
Some of my earliest memories involve this creative process: My mother—then a young woman with a daughter in tow (when she couldn’t find a babysitter) — would bring me along to her pottery and landscape-design classes. Strong memories.
From my father, a mason for 30 years, I learned to appreciate the repetition and rhythm of hard work done by hand.
In high school, I studied visual communications — then went on to study graphic design at Ferris State University. I also studied business, marketing, branding, and sales — we daughters of Midwestern blue-collar workers tend to have a practical bent.
I’m now based in the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina, working as both a brand strategist and freelance graphic designer. And, perhaps like you, I’m also a full-time parent.
IN FACT, Our lives probably aren’t that different. I BALANCE my need to create with the practicalities of family life and making a living. I get it.
Let’s talk and see what I can do for you.
